Where it came from

Biblical Hebrew was spoken by the Israelites in the Land of Israel. Its early form, Paleo-Hebrew, is attested in inscriptions from about the 10th century BCE, when it was almost identical to Phoenician and other Canaanite languages. The Hebrew Bible itself called the language 'language of Canaan' or 'Judean', not 'Hebrew'.
